Among old Russian towns of the Ivanovo region, Plyos is a classic example of a medieval central point located in the most ecologically pure area of central Russia. In the 19th century, Plyos was referred to as the Russian northern Switzerland. One of the most interesting sites in Plyos is Sobornaya Gora (Mountain) where you can find the Uspensky (Assumption) Cathedral and the Levitan Museum. It is also the venue of different cultural festivals that, fortunately, are quite regular in Plyos.
